Are you an English language teacher looking for resources? Or are you a parent of an English language student? You are in the right place!
The “Speak English with Comics” resource is designed to
encourage student output (that means talking a lot)
make learning fun
AND
suit every level
Why are comics so effective?
Comics are very visual
This is not only interesting, but it helps students connect the English word to the concept rather than translating from their first language.
Comics tell stories in sequential order
Students get to use lots of vocabulary, but in a way that is natural and makes sense.
Comics are shorter than books
Students can dedicate as little as 10 minutes to reading a comic out loud and will practiced many skills even in that short amount of time!
Frequent, short practices are a fantastic way to learn a language and accumulate knowledge over time
What can my student(s) practice through reading comics out loud?
Speaking practice
Students can read the comics out loud by themselves
They can record themselves talking and listen back
They can tell the story to or with someone else, whether it’s a teacher, a friend, or a parent
Grammar practice
Verb tenses (what IS happening, what MIGHT happen, what HAPPENED, what WILL happen)
prepositions
New vocabulary
Comics show many objects and actions that occur in everyday life
Listening practice
On our website, students can listen to vocabulary words and questions about the comics
